Happy 10th Birthday to Dylan in Australia....for tomorrow, all our love from the Kiwi's here in the UK.

Here safe and sound!
38 hours door to door, had a very early night and feel great now. Funnily the weather is pretty much the same as at home (NZ) not half as cold as I was expecting, although snow has been forcast for tomorrow.

Been out for a spot of shopping today, hit my favourite shop Next, checked out the clothes shops, so much to choose from its crazy, David and I will go back on the weekend while Alexander has a play date with Adam so we can shop without a little helper.

Yesterday Alexander and I had great fun watching the squirels (3 of them) eating from the bird feeders on the fence, got some lovely photos of them. Hard to believe they are considered pests here, they are so cute.

Not much change in the weather I see.

23 March 2010

I had this little conversation with Alexander last night while resting in bed with him. We were talking about scars, like his eyebrow one and the one he will have on his chin.

“You have a scar on your tummy eh Mummy, from when I was a born baby” (talking about his birth by c section)

“Yep that’s right” I say.

“Did you swallow me before that?”

I guess that is the question about how he was made...lol at this stage I can just laugh it off, but one day he will want to know I’m sure; I’m leaving that one up to Daddy!!!!

19 March 2010

It’s all getting very exciting now, Alexander is counting down the sleeps till we leave.
Next week he gets to do show and tell at kindy and I know he wants to talk about his trip to Nanny and Granddads.
I’ve printed off the world map for him and we have drawn a line with the stop over’s etc and photos of his family so he can show everyone.
It’s been a bit of a mad rush finishing off jobs/work etc before next week.

Rudy Bits and a good laugh!!!

I just caught Alexander outside mucking round with my little garden boys, when I asked him what he was doing, he replied “covering his wiener” and when he stepped back I noticed he had covered the garden boys’ modesty with a leaf!
Lesa do you remember covering that brown lady statue that Nana and Grandee had in their bedroom?
My sister and I as children would cover this figurine with paper or a tea towel because you could see her boobs; incedently that statue now takes pride of place in my front garden...

Weather Update.. :-)
its getting a little better!

We have been airing out the suitcases, sorting out winter clothes. Alexander has grown so much in the last year, most of his winter pants and a tad on the shorty side..lol I swear his Daddy must have been a giraffe!!!

Southerly blaster hits Wellington
The clean-up begins today following a fierce southerly storm through central NZ, which left a trail of damage in its wake and at least two people injured.

The "southerly buster" ripped through the top of the South Island into Wellington about 4.30pm, bringing gusts of up to 130kmh and dumping up to 25 millimetres of rain – a week's worth – in just a few hours.

A mini-tornado ripped off roofs, tore out trees and cut power to thousands as emergency services scrambled to deal with hundreds of calls.

Commuters were also stranded after the Hutt train line was blocked by fallen trees and surface flooding brought peak-hour traffic to a crawl.

Temperatures dropped from 18.5 celsius to 8.5C within 10 minutes before winds left a trail of debris through the city.

Alexander has wanted a Care Bear for ages, and so I relented and got him one for his sleepover at his Nan's last weekend. Do you think I could find a boy or blue one...nope! So he has Harmony Bear she was/is a girl in a fetching lavender colour and she also had a pretty flower headband that Alexander insisted I cut off right then! Hehe!
He has had his other blue bear since before he was born, I brought that for him when we found out he was going to be a boy at the 20 week scan and that bear has been round the world at least twice now.

Just noticed in the photo he still has toothpaste on his cheek!!!

Another Proud Mummy Moment
Up until about three weeks ago Alexander has shown no interest in trying to write his name. Although he has been practicing hard at kindy without any help or encouragement, cajoling etc from me. I think he has done so well considering he has 9 letters in his name, I know he missed a few this morning, but look you can see the A, L and the X and the d. Well done matey, we are proud of you!

If you love handmade stuff, then you will love Etsy. www.etsy.com

I saw these cute Tie Tee Shirts some weeks ago and thought they looked cool and my little guy had to have some too, but not at that price...lol. So I made my own for Alexander.
