This will be about as close as Alexander will EVER get to riding a real motorbike, mean mummy I know! But they are just to dangerous for my liking.
He just loves the coin operated ones at places like Chipmunks and Lollipops play land.

It's not very often that I write here on what is Kim's blog - her story through her eyes of our life at any given moment in time. Today we felt it appropriate that I make a few comments. But firstly I want to say a big thank you to Margaret for organising Alexander's party on the train.



Birthdays can often be driven by material things with the occassional surprise dropped in for good measure. Sometimes we can lose sight of those things that really matter at a time of celebration and sometimes we can be painfully aware that a special "something" is missing or family members cannot be there to share that "special time". It was with mixed emotions that we set off for the afternoon, enjoying Alexanders obvious excitement that only a three year old can show (yet be so unable to explain) and a little sadness that, that special "thing" is missing - that "icing on the cake" so to speak.

There are material surprises and then there are those wonderful surprises that no amount of money could ever buy. I will never be able to put into words the surprise, pride and "warmth" that I felt when Alexander's sister, Sarah and Jayme turned up out of the blue.

So again to Margaret a big thank you for organising what turned into a better than expected afternoon. To Alexanders friends and parents - thank you for the gifts. To Kim thank you for being such a wonderful partner to me and such a wonderful mother to our little "gift". Importantly, to Jayme and my special daughter Sarah - thank you for providing that gift of a "surprise that no amount of money could ever buy" - sharing what was such an important and special day to Alexander. And to my special son - Happy 3rd Birthday. Love Dad xxxxxx

Alexander loves to go to the airport to watch the planes! We found a good spot where the planes go just about over our heads, much to the delight of Alexander and David :-)




I've gone into party mode for "his lordships" birthday. Cake being made on Thursday night (by myself and a friend) I've hired a Thomas the Tank Engine shaped cake tin and we will ice it on Saturday afternoon. Actually I'm quite looking forward to making it now. Aunty Sharon has sent some fantastic Thomas goodies not seen here for his party. Plus I made a little Thomas postcard as well. Wish me luck for the great baking day - hehehe.

Some photos from our 4WD day, 2 weeks ago.
We had so much fun we are thinking of taking it up!!!! And by this I mean getting a 4WD specifically for getting dirty and maybe a little bent in!!! Tell you what after 3 or 4 washes its still dirty, and when it rains little puddles of mud collect on the ground.

Alexander was asking if "Mummy fell in the pond" like Duncan did from the Thomas the Tank engine stories when we got back :-)

Alexander in his new bed....story time with Daddy and then Mummy comes in for a story (the same story every night - Alexander always wants the same book over and over again!!!!) I can read it without even looking at the book now, even recite the whole thing while driving in the car...hehehe

He has settled into his new bed very well, and for the most part stays put!
We will be taking his cot down over the weekend - a sad day for mummy! My little boy is growing up.
He also is doing fantastically on the potty, and is so proud of his deposits :-)

Nanny is having the day with Alexander on Saturday (more tips to the trains,McDonald's and the video store I'm sure) - as David and I are heading off bright and early 4 wheel driving with friends.

Ohhh and Alexander has informed me that he wants a train cake for this birthday, not just a round cake or a square cake, but a train cake no less!!!!

Now you are talking to the cake baking, well baking in general virgin here.
So I have taken advise on this and borrowed ever cake book from the library and will have a practise run before the big event.

Actually to be quite honest the first cake Alexander choose from the books he has been pouring over was a very lovely Barbie doll sticking out of the middle of a cake that looked like a dress - now I know I could have managed that for him...

That is Alexander’s new catch fraise, or Take a bow, Thank you very much, the latter usually used on his way to being sent to his room for throwing toys. The one that makes me laugh the most is from the Ice Age movie; he comes out with “Sometimes I throw up”

I can’t get over how much he has changed and grown up in the last few months, he is not my little baby anymore, (well he always will be) he has a great sense of humor, and jolly cheeky with it!!!!
But oh so sensitive too, I love nothing more that hearing “Love you Mummy” or giving a comforting hug during the sad bit in Ice Age where the elephant is crying, and every time he sobs away with her, and will say “Elli’s OK eh Mumma?”

His new bed arrives in 10 days, a big boy’s bed, as he has been climbing into his cot, not out.

And…..he has been using the “potty” – finally after all these months of just sitting on it with the lid closed or putting toys in it.

First day back at kindy today after 2 weeks break for the school holidays. Mummy is off to the pub for lunch with another mummy from kindy…hehehe

Now who could say no to that face...I tell you!!!!!

I left Alexander for the first time at kindy yesterday for a whole hour...lol
I went round the corner to the cafe, and had a coffee and read a magazine. He was absolutely fine, he did ask for me several times. I’m going to go and have lunch with Dave next week, something we've not done for years.

My little man had his first day at kindergarten today. Three afternoons a week now he will head off for 2 hours of fun. I know I will have a harder time leaving him, than he will leaving me I’m sure.
